THE HOLY SPIRIT AS THE AGENT OF REVIVAL.
BIBLE READING: EPHESIANS 2:1-5; TITUS 3:5-6; HAGGAI 1:14; 1CORINTHIANS 2:4-5; 1THESSALONIANS 1:5
The Holy Spirit as an agent of revival”And He, when He comes, will convict the world about [the guilt of] sin [and the need for a Saviour], and about Righteousness, and about Judgment: about sin [and the true nature of it], because they do not believe in Me [and My Message]; about Righteousness [personal integrity and godly character], because I am going to My Father and you will no longer see Me; about Judgment [the certainty of it], because the ruler of this world (satan) has been judged and condemned.” John 16:8-11(AMP).
The Holy Spirit is not a Dove, Fire or Wind but He chose to manifest in these dimensions for an effect for various purposes. He is not a Figment of the Imagination because He is a Person that has a Mind, Will and Emotion as we have established in recent devotionals. The Holy Spirit was introduced by Jesus to continue the Agenda of the Trinity on Earth *(Jn. 16:7)* and that covers the Revival of creation, systems and territories in obedience to Christ.
Revivals are times of Great Outpouring of God’s Spirit. Put simply, a Revival is a Work of the Holy Spirit wherein He moves amongst God’s people, unbelievers, territories and systems to bring them into obedience to God’s Will and Purposes for that Season. *(Joel 2:12-32)* True Revival leaves a deep impression on communities, changes lifestyles, heals families and delivers people from sin. It redirects the lives of many. Even those who reject the message often feel the impact. Most important of all, it glorifies God. *(Isa. 42:8).*
As we serve the Lord, we become aware that our best efforts are futile apart from the Holy Spirit. Vast amounts of money, promotion and organization inherently produce little Spiritual Impact. “Rivers” of God’s Blessing sometimes flow from unlikely places because our hands are limited until the Holy Spirit grants us His Power. The Scripture declares that *“He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His Mercy, by the Washing of Regeneration and Renewing by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Saviour.* Tit. 3:5-7(NLT). The Holy Spirit stirs our hearts to yield to God as testified in the Bible during Peter’s first sermon on the Day of Pentecost: *”Now, when they heard this, they were cut to the heart [with remorse and anxiety], and they said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what are we to do?”* Acts 2:37(AMP).
Most great revivals were characterized by fervent prayer in Churches, workplaces, prayer meetings in which many received the Baptism in the Holy Spirit and the Call of God with non-Christians being brought to Repentance and Salvation *(Acts 1:13; Eph. 6:18; Rom. 8:26, 27).* The Holy Spirit releases the Love of Christ in people’s lives and makes Jesus (His Person, Compassion, Death and Resurrection) more real to the world. *(Jn. 16:13-15).* The Holy Spirit revivals have also been characterized by, amongst other things, healing of the sick, casting out of demons, defeat of ungodly opposition and release of finances for the Work of God because through prosperity shall the Kingdom be spread abroad. *(Zech. 1:17).
Lord, I thank You for the Gift of the Holy Spirit in my life and for not leaving me alone as an orphan here on Earth. I activate the Revival Ministry of the Holy Spirit in my life, ministry, finances and all my endeavours in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
