Baptism of the Holy Ghost

Baptism of the Holy Ghost

BIBLE READING: LUKE 11:13; JOHN 7:37-39; ACTS 10:44-48; ACTS 19:1-7

Baptism of the Holy Ghost : “And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” Acts 2:4(NKJV)

The Normal Christian Life is one that is powered by the Holy Spirit. In other words, the Fuel that keeps us going as Christian believers is the Power of the Holy Spirit. (Zech. 4:6)The Process that enables every believer to be filled with the Holy Spirit is called Holy Ghost Baptism.

The word “baptism” is derived from the Greek words “bapto” (noun) and “baptidzo” (verb) which literally means “to dip” or “to immerse or submerge something completely”. Simply put, Holy Ghost Baptism is the Process whereby a Christian believer is totally immersed in the Spirit with the evidence of tongues. (Acts 2:4) Being filled with the Holy Spirit infuses believers with Divine Energy, activating both the Wisdom and Power of God within. (1Cor. 1:24) Holy Ghost Baptism has the Ability to transform a cowardly fisherman to a mighty apostle. (Lk. 22:54-62; Acts 2:14-38)

The beautiful thing about this is that the only criterion for being filled with the Holy Spirit is the New Birth. The Lord grant us all the Grace to do the impossible “according to the Power that works in us.”Eph. 3:20(NKJV).

1KINGS 8:27; HABAKKUK 2:20; HAGGAI 2:9; ACTS 17:24; 2CORINTHIANS 6:16

“Do you not know that you are the Temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone defiles the Temple of God, God will destroy him. For the Temple of God is Holy, which Temple you are.” 1Corinthians 3:16-17(NKJV)

One of the Greatest Revelations every Christian believer must have is that the Lord God Almighty dwells within us. (Acts 7:48) There are three key dimensions of the Presence of God:

(1.) His Omnipresence: This refers to Him as “the God Who Sees..”(Gen. 16:13).

(2.) His Manifest Presence: This refers to the Visible and Tangible Manifestation of His Shekinah Glory as Yahweh Shammah. (Ezek. 48:35).

(3.) His Indwelling Presence: This refers to the Lord making His Abode or Dwelling within us as believers.

(Jn. 2:13-22)The Glorious Reality is that every Christian believer is a mobile shrine who accommodates the Godhead but the sad reality is that few understand this. (Hos. 4:6).

An understanding of the Truth that God doesn’t dwell in a temple made with hands (Acts 17:24) inevitably causes us to take our consecration more seriously.

The average professing Christian observes proper decorum when going into the Sanctuary during a typical Church service. (1Tim. 3:15) If only we truly realized that the One we go to worship actually lives in us as His Temple, placing the onus on us to carry ourselves daily with that consciousness.
