THE MINISTRY OF PRAYER: In return for my love they are my accusers, but I give myself to prayer.” Psalm 109:4 (NKJV).
The lifeline of every Christian believer is found in his or her prayer closet. In other words, any so-called minister without a prayer life doesn’t even have a ministry to begin with. Of all the things to ask of Jesus concerning ministry, one of His disciples asked Him,
“Lord, teach us to pray as John also taught his disciples.”* (Lk. 11:1). The psalmist declared: *”Let my prayer be set before You as incense, the lifting of my hands as the evening sacrifice.”* (Psalm 141:2).
Genuine prayer is perceived and received by the Lord God Almighty as incense which gives one validity before Him. Prayer is communication with God. It is a major expression of our dependence on God *(Heb. 4:16)*.
This is so important because life is governed by the spirit realm which in itself is activated by prayer. The Scripture makes us understand that, *”…By strength no man shall prevail.”* (1Sam. 2:9).
As we begin our journey into this new year, we must remember that the call to pray is higher than the call to preach. The Lord Jesus may have retired from preaching yet He continues with the Ministry of Prayer for *”He always lives to make intercession for them.”* (Heb. 7:25b).
A casual approach towards prayer makes casualties of war in these Last Days so let us all join the Praying Army that will subdue the year 2022 for the Kingdom of God.
