PRINCIPLES ON HOW TO END THE YEAR PROPERLY; Though your beginning was small, yet your latter end would increase abundantly. Job 8:7 (NKJV).*
You may have concluded or may currently be entertaining thoughts that 2021 brought more harm than good because of your personal experiences.
Remember, you must not judge God by your experiences because God can only be judged by His Word; which is a more sure word of prophecy (2 Pet. 1:19). It may be a fact that 2021 may not have delivered all of your expectations, but today can still deliver abundant increase.
Our lessons today, will provide the principles that will ensure that you end this year well and enter into the coming year with God’s blessing. Therefore, put the following principles into practice:
*1. REPENTANCE:* Repentance is a 180-degree turn. This is the very first action you must set in motion as the year gradually winds down to a close.
Appraise your activities throughout the year; repent of all wrong doing and even every omission or inaction that stopped you from accessing God’s best for you this year. When you repent, God gives you the grace to accomplish more *(see 2Chron. 7:13-14)*.
*2. BRING A WORTHY THANKSGIVING:* In the book of first Chronicles, when David saw that God had made him King and he wanted to successfully return the ark of the Lord from Obededom the Gittite’s house to the Tabernacle of David in the city of David, he offered sacrifices of thanksgiving.
David ensured that the Priests and Levites sacrificed seven bullocks and seven rams after every seven steps that they took, now that is a worthy thanksgiving *(see 1 Chron. 15:26-28; 16:1)*. Thanksgiving is always done in appreciation of what God has done, is doing and will do for you.
*3. GO SEE YOUR PARENTS (spiritual and physical):* To end the year on a perfect note, take time to go and see your parents. The Bible says, honour your father and your mother that it may be well with you on the earth and that your days may be long *(see Ex. 20:12; Mal. 1:6; Eph. 6:2).
To end the year well, and activate a prosperous new year, go and see both your physical and your spiritual parents. Make sure you take something to honour them and your year will be crowned with goodness *(see Ps. 65:11)*. Neglecting your physical or spiritual parents will not evoke the full dimension of the prophetic to push you into the next level or cause a supernatural shift.
*4. GIVING:* In giving, you take a freewill gift to a person or an organization. It can be in the form of money, clothing, food or almost anything else that you are prompted to give.
There are different forms of giving which include: giving to God (Kingdom promotion), giving to God’s servants, giving to one another and giving to the poor. Proverbs 21:13 says, *“Whoever shuts his ears to the cry of the poor will also cry himself and not be heard.”*
• As you prepare to end the year, forgive everyone who offended you, and ask God and anyone you offended for forgiveness.
• Give a special thanksgiving offering to God.
• Give substantial gifts to both your physical and spiritual parents.
• Give for the advancement of God’s Kingdom and to those in need.
