How to rebuild broken down altars;”Then Elijah said to all the people, “Come near to me.” So all the people came near to him. And he repaired the Altar of the Lord that was broken down.” 1Kings 18:30 (NKJV).*

Broken down altars represent broken relationships between God and His people. The true and real altars today are in the hearts of God’s people. Our altars are broken down and damaged when we are drawn away from God to things that can be described as idols of the heart. These are things that take the place of God in our lives *(Matt. 6:21)*.

In the days of Elijah, the people replaced the Altar of God with the altars of Baal and other idols. The first thing Elijah did when he wanted the Power of God to fall was to repair/rebuild God’s Altar because an altar is to God what an airport is to an airplane *(Judges 13:19-20)*.

God will not manifest Himself where there is a weak or damaged altar. To have the Continuous Presence and Manifestation of God in our lives, Churches, families, nations or in any setting, we must have a strong and whole altar.

To repair the altar, Elijah gathered twelve stones representing the Twelve Tribes of Israel. Today, only one Stone is needed and that is Christ Jesus Himself *(1 Pet. 2:4; Isa. 28:16)* and the first and major key to rebuilding our broken altars is repentance.

When we repent and confess our sins, the Fire of God is ignited afresh on the altars of our hearts, causing us to offer again sacrifices of worship, praise, thanksgiving and prayers from a pure heart.

*PRAYER:*

Holy Father, we repent of the sin of neglecting our personal, family, church and national altars. We pray You give us the zeal to rebuild our altars so that Your Fire can fall on our hearts once again in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
