There is power in the name of Jesus

There is power in the name of Jesus

*BIBLE READING: PROVERBS 18:10; MARK 16:15-18; ACTS 3:1-9*

*There is power in the name of Jesus; Therefore God also has highly exalted Him, and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:9-11(NKJV).*

One of the weapons available to every believer is the name of Jesus, the authority of the believer is exercised through the name of Jesus. In Mark 16, Jesus said, in My name, you shall cast out devils, heal the sick….

You must know that, *“The weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood]. Our weapons are divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses (2Cor. 10:4 AMP).* To successfully engage in spiritual warfare, we must understand 3 major things:

Firstly, you must know yourself. This entails knowing your identity in Christ. Know who you are in Christ. You must know that you are also a weapon in the hands of God. You are God’s battle axe and weapons of war *(see Jer. 51:20)*. Without you, God cannot enforce His will on the earth. God needs you to work in partnership with Him to establish His Kingdom here on earth.

Secondly, you must know your weapons. Here, you need to know the weapons you have been given to enforce your authority in Christ. Weapons such as the revelation of the power in the name of Jesus, the power in the blood of Jesus, praise and worship, the whole armour of God *(see Eph. 6:11-18)* etc.

Thirdly, you must know your enemy and his strategies. The scriptures admonish us to not be ignorant of the devices of the enemy *(see 2 Cor. 2:11).*

In Acts 3:1-9, Peter and John used their authority in the name of Jesus on their way to a prayer meeting when they met a crippled man at the gate called beautiful, who asked them for alms but Peter and John fixed their gaze on him and Peter said, “silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you:

In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. So he, leaping up, stood and walked…*

You see, Peter realised what he had which is the name of Jesus that can make the cripple to walk and change circumstances.

We must know what we have in Christ and utilise it and not be ignorant like Moses of old who carried about a prophetic rod but when he got to the red sea being pursued by Pharaoh from behind, he cried out to the Lord.

And the Lord said to Moses, “Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward. But lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it *(see Ex. 14:15-16).* Use the power in the name of Jesus!

If you want to be able to effectively use the name of Jesus , then prepare to make your self A Living Altar.

Lord, open our eyes to what has been given to us, as our inheritance and grant us the wisdom and ability to deploy them in any situation that comes our way in Jesus name.
