*BIBLE READING: HEBREWS 13:10-16; EPHESIANS 5:2; 1 CORINTHIANS 3:16*

Becoming a living altar:”I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the Mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that Good and Acceptable and Perfect Will of God.” Romans 12:1-2 (NKJV).

Ministry is spiritual and everything that is done properly in ministry must be anointed. If you must serve in any capacity, your service must be rendered under the anointing because every human being you see is an Altar. The question remains thus: Is the person a Divine or demonic altar?

The Hebrew word for Altar is “Mizbeach”. The Old Testament has records of altars built by many people including Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Moses. The Altar is a place for sacrifice *(Gen. 12:7)* as well as a place of refuge *(1Kgs 1:50-53).* In the New covenant, an Altar is a place where spiritual sacrifices are offered up to the Lord *(Rom. 12:1-2; 1 Pet. 2:5).*

Believers must possess a single-minded passion to please God in love, devotion, praise and holiness and to offer their bodies for His Service.

Our greatest desire and prayer should be to live a life of holiness and to be accepted by God *(Acts 10:34-35)*. This requires separating ourselves from the world and drawing ever nearer to God in consecration. Every genuine believer must then become a yielded instrument for God’s Service (Rom. 6:13) .

Becoming a mobile living Altar is accomplished through a lifetime of renewing the mind since the human mind has been darkened by sin

(Rom. 8:7; Col. 1:21) and must be brought to the place where it thinks as God Himself thinks *(Eph. 4:23).* This renewing is said to come especially through prayer to God in everything *(Phil. 4:6-7)* and through constant meditation on the Word of God *(Ps. 119:11)*.

The greatest honour bestowed upon any human being is the privilege of being a carrier of God’s Presence. This is what being a mobile living Altar is all about *(1Pet. 2:5; 1Cor. 3:16)*. The Lord grant us deeper insights into our call.
